4: Tools & resources page

5: Free reports

6: Courses

7: Checklists

8: eBooks

9: Webinars

10: Podcasts

1: Blog Posts

Blog posts are one of the best types of content you can create as an affiliate.

In fact:

According to these affiliate marketing statistics, over 60% of affiliate marketers use blogging as their main source of traffic.

When it comes to blog posts, there are only 4 types of posts you need to create:

#1: Product Reviews

Where you review a single product, or multiple products side by side. (Comparison style.)

To make your reviews stand out, be sure to be as in-depth, honest and genuine as possible.

And consider adding in things like a pricing chart, or a pros and cons section, or images/videos etc.

This will help in beefing up the post and making it more valuable.

Like you see here, where I review the best landing page builders for affiliate marketing.

#2: How To Posts

A how to post is where you teach your audience how to do or achieve something.

Like you see in this post, that teaches people how to monetize a blog with affiliate marketing.

And just like with product reviews, the more in-depth you can be, the better the post will be.

#3: List Posts

A list post is a list of something.

With that something being around a topic your audience is interested in.

For example:

This list post lists successful affiliate websites.

#4: General Information

Where you provide general information around topics that interest your audience.

These types of posts work great when you answer questions your audience has and help them overcome their problems.

Wikipedia is a perfect example of general information.

The goal with these types of posts is to bring in traffic and educate.

Then within these posts, link out to your product reviews, how to posts and your list posts.

2: YouTube Videos

Perhaps writing content isn’t your thing.

If so, consider creating YouTube videos.

According to GlobalMediaInsights, YouTube has over 2 billion monthly active users:

affiliate marketing without a website

Which means there’s huge potential for you to get your content in front of a large audience.

If YouTube is the route for you, here are 9 types of videos you could create:

  • Product reviews. Where you review different products in your industry.
  • How to videos. These are very popular, and it’s where you teach users “how to do” or “achieve” something.
  • Best of videos. Simply show the best of something.
  • Gaming videos. If you’re in the gaming niche, gaming videos will be perfect for you.
  • Challenge videos. Like food challenges or fitness challenges.
  • Educational videos. Where you educate your audience on a particular topic.
  • Unboxing videos. Can you unbox products in your industry?
  • Reaction videos. Where you watch videos and show yourself (on camera) reacting to videos.
  • Lifestyle videos. Live an interesting life? Perhaps a lifestyle video is the video type for you.

3: Email Marketing

Email marketing is a goldmine of a marketing channel.

So much so that, on average, you’ll see an ROI of $36 for every $1 spent, which is higher than any other channel.

Based on this data, it’s safe to say email marketing is an awesome place for content creation and the promotion of affiliate products.

Here’s an example of such content.

This is a simple email of mine that promotes ConvertKit, the platform I use for email marketing:

Quick Tip: Some companies will not allow you to promote their products via email. So, be sure to check with your affiliate program so you don’t violate any TOS.

4: Tools & Resources Page

If you have a website, consider creating a tools and resources page.

Then of course, be sure to incorporate affiliate links for some of those tools.

For example, I have this resources page that lists the best tools for affiliate marketing:

That page resides in the header of my site, so people can see it and easily access it.

The great thing with this type of content is that it’s easy to create.

You will need a website however.

If you don’t have a website, this post shows you (step by step) how to create an affiliate marketing website.

5: Free Reports

A report is a downloadable file (normally a document) that contains information your audience will find valuable.

They work incredibly well when used as lead magnets to build an email list.

Here’s an example of a simple report I put together.

It’s a report I give away freely in order to build my list:

Reports are quick and easy to create and can be done with free tools such as Google Docs and Canva.

An easy way to create the content for the report is to take another piece of content you already have and condense it.

Then put the condensed version into Google Docs/Canva and offer that as a lead magnet.

6: Courses

A course is one of the best ways to promote affiliate products.

If you’re able to create one, it’ll be well worth your time.

They are incredibly effective at educating, relationship building and selling products, all within the one type of content.

If you would like to see an example, you’re welcome to check out my free course here.

The course is called…

“The Beginners Guide To Affiliate Marketing”:

Creating a course usually involves membership site software.

Personally, I use Clickfunnels, but there are others such as Teachable or WishlistMember.

Your course doesn’t have to include videos either.

You may want to keep the course content in written format.

If so, that works great too!

7: Checklists

A checklist is a documented agenda of a projects tasks that must be completed before that project is marked as complete.

And just like free reports, these work great as lead magnets.

They’re also easy to create using Canva or Google Docs.

Here’s an example of a checklist:

This is a webinar checklist by Hubspot.

Your checklist does not have to include actual checkable boxes.

They work just as good without them.

8: eBooks

Sometimes affiliate content works best inside an eBook.

If that’s the case for your content ideas, consider creating an eBook for your audience.

An eBook is a great way to position yourself as an authority figure on a subject.

That’s what I done several years ago in the dating niche.

I wrote an eBook (I outsourced the writing and design of the book) and used it as a way to build my list and promote affiliate products.

You can sell the eBook as a product.

Or you can give it away as a lead magnet, or even as a bonus.

Check out SmartBloggers post about eBook writing for tips and tricks.

Quick Tip: If you don’t want to write the eBook yourself, outsource it. All you do is come up with the topics to be covered in the eBook, then you hire a ghost writer to write the content.

9: Webinars

Hosting a webinar is a powerful way to engage with your audience.

In fact they’re so engaging, the average conversion rate on a webinar is a staggering 55%:

webinars are a great type of content for affiliate marketing

Also, most webinar hosting platforms give you the ability to run pre-recorded webinars as live webinars.

Meaning:

You use a pre-recorded webinar (video) as your “live” webinar.

Then your webinar becomes an automated webinar.

10: Podcasts

Perhaps a podcast is right up your ally.

If it is, know there’s certainly no shortage of listeners.

Just look at this graph from Backlinko:

podcasting is a great way to produce affiliate content

With each new year that arrives, the number of listeners increases, drastically!

That means, there’s massive potential for you to get your content in front of an audience that continues to grow.

He’s been doing it for ages and crushes it!

Running paid ads is another type of content to consider.

It’s certainly the fastest way to get traffic, build your list and get people into your affiliate marketing funnels.

Plus with paid ads, there’s no shortage of platforms to advertise on.

So essentially, there’s an unlimited amount of traffic you could get in front of.
