If you’re wondering how to monetize a blog with affiliate marketing…
You’re in the right place!
Because in this post, I show you how to monetize a blog with affiliate marketing in 2024.
In fact:
By the end of this post, you’ll have an “affiliate action plan” you can implement right away.
Let’s get started…
How To Monetize A Blog With Affiliate Marketing
Step 1: Know What Your Audience Wants & Needs
It’s impossible to monetize a blog without first understanding your audience’s wants and needs.
When you know this information, it’s then a matter of providing solutions (affiliate products) that they want or need.
For example:
I have this post about how to create an affiliate website.
Within the post I pitch BlueHost, an affiliate product:
BlueHost provides web hosting, which is a need if you want to create an affiliate website.
So how exactly do you find out what people want and need?
Simple.
By doing keyword research and finding out what people search for in Google.
Because when people have problems, they use Google to search for solutions.
And to do keyword research, there are tools you can use such as UberSuggest:
With UberSuggest, you can find out what keywords your target audience is searching for.
As well as view how many people (on average) search for those terms on a monthly basis.
This is great information, because this tells you what your audience is wanting or needing.
For example:
I wanted to see if my audience was using Google to search for terms related to “marketing funnels for affiliates.”
So inside of UberSuggest I typed in affiliate marketing funnel, and UberSuggest showed me this information:
It shows me on average, how many people search for that keyword per month.
But more importantly:
It’s validation of what my audience wants or needs.
In this particular case, it’s showing me they want information related to affiliate marketing funnels.
To come up with different keyword ideas and phrases to search for, I look at my competitors blogs.
I then see what they’re writing about, which helps me come up with ideas on what to look for in UberSuggest.
From there, UberSuggest shows even more keyword ideas.
You can rinse and repeat this process for as many different topics as you like.
You’ll then understand all the different wants and needs of your audience.
Step 2: Create High Quality Content
When you know what your audience wants and needs, it’s time to create content that “scratches that itch.”
Your content will be used to attract your target audience to your blog.
And no matter what type of content it is, it needs to be unique, relevant, and genuinely helpful to the reader.
The more helpful and relevant your content is, the easier it’ll be to monetize your traffic.
Because great content leads to trust and credibility, which in turn leads to sales.

Furthermore:
If you want to write content that get’s ranked on the first page of Google, this post covers everything you need to know about SEO.
Step 3: Find Relevant Products To Promote
Whatever the products are that you promote, they need to be great products that will help your audience.
They also need to be products that are relevant to your content.
And it’s even better if they’re products you use yourself, or have used in the past.
For example:
I have this post about the best email marketing services for bloggers.
Within the post I promote email marketing services that I’m an affiliate for.
Such as ConvertKit, which I use myself and highly recommend:
Not only do I think these services are awesome, I know they’ll be helpful to my audience.
And of course, these products are relevant to what the post is about.
So how do you find great products to promote that are relevant?
Simple.
Join popular affiliate networks, where you’ll have access to tens of thousands of products.
There’s a lot of different affiliate networks out there.
Some are great, while others are not so great.

Step 4: Promote Products Within Your Content
There are several different strategies for promoting affiliate products in blog posts.
Here are 3 strategies that work really well….
1: How To Posts
This is where you teach people “how to do” or “achieve” something within the post.
While promoting a product at the same time within the content.
Here’s an example of a how to style post, where I also promote an affiliate product within the content:
This post teaches people how to create an affiliate website.
Within the post I promote BlueHost, which is used for web hosting.
This product ties in with the content, because you need a website (ideally) for affiliate marketing, and BlueHost is used to set up a website.
2: Product Reviews
Reviewing products is a great way to promote affiliate products.
You can review a single product.
Or you can review several products side by side.
Either way works well.
Here’s an example where I review the best link tracking software on the market:
It’s a product comparison style review where I review multiple products side by side.
When writing a review, be as in-depth as possible.
The more info you can provide, the higher your chances of making sales.
You could include things such as a “key features” section:
Or a like/dislike section, where you mention what you like (or don’t like) about the products you’re reviewing:
Or even add in FAQs related to your products:
The more info you can provide the better.
Just be as thorough as you can & your review should do great.
3: Product Tutorials
Sometimes, all someone wants is to be shown how to use a product.
And that’s where product tutorials come in handy.
If you have knowledge about a specific product, and you’re an affiliate for that product, this could be the perfect approach for you.
To ensure as many sales as possible with this type of promotion, the tutorial should be as in-depth as possible.
Ideally:
You’ll cover everything from A-Z and everything in between.
The more in-depth the tutorial, the more sales you’ll generate.
Because you’ll cover everything people are wanting to know, which lowers their “buying resistance barrier.”
