Here Are 9 Simple “Hacks” To
Increase Your Affiliate Sales

1: Promote Subscription Based Products

One of the best ways to increase your sales, is by promoting products that charge a monthly fee.

Why get paid just one time for a single purchase, when you can get paid each and every month?

Recurring revenue is insanely powerful.

Because you promote the product once, yet profit every month, for as long as your referrals remain active customers.

Depending on your niche, it may not be possible to promote subscription based products.

But if you have the opportunity to, definitely promote this type of product.

It’ll end up being one of the best types of products you promote, because it’ll produce monthly cashflow for your business. (Which is the “blood” of a business.)

2: Increase Your Traffic

The more traffic you get, the better your chances to increase revenue.

So always be working on increasing your traffic.

If you’re like me and have your own affiliate site, you can use SEO (search engine optimization) to try and get your content ranked on page one of Google:

Pro Tip: SEO is the process of optimizing your content so that it shows as high as possible in organic search results for specific keywords.

If you can achieve this with multiple pieces of content, you’ll get tonnes of free traffic.

And you can increase that traffic by getting even more content ranked on page one.

First, you focus on a specific keyword you’d like your content to rank for.

Then you write a blog post Google (and users) will love.

And within that content, you’ll implement on-page SEO techniques to help get it ranked in search engines.

How To Maximize Your SEO Efforts

Finally, to really help with your SEO, you’ll want to build “backlinks.”

Backlinks are links from other sites that link back to yours:

Backlinks are like votes, that shows search engines your site (or piece of content) is awesome, and worthy of being ranked on page one.

And one of the best ways to obtain backlinks, is by writing “guest posts.” (Where you write a post on someone else’s site.)

With guest posting, most of the sites you write for will allow you to insert at least one backlink.

If you write several guest posts, you’ll get several backlinks, which is helpful for your sites SEO.

The more backlinks you get from different sites, the better your site will perform in the search results.

Finding sites to guest post on can be time consuming, so here’s a list of 300+ guest posting sites compiled and ready to go.

3: Build An Email List

One of the best things you can do as an affiliate is email marketing.

In fact:

According to ContentMarketingInstitue, email marketing is the best way to nurture and convert leads into sales:

In simple terms:

You’ll make way more money by doing email marketing than you would without it.

Most people who visit your site will leave and never return.

So it makes sense to acquire your prospects contact information before they go.

This way, you can follow up with them via email to build a relationship, and to make offers.

4: Make An Offer On Your Thank You Page

Do you offer your audience some kind of lead magnet?

If you do, consider making an offer on your “thank you page.” (The page you send your leads to after they sign up for the lead magnet.)

Most people will have a bland thank you page where they simply say “thanks for signing up, here’s your freebie.”

While that’s great, an even better strategy is to still do that, but to also pitch an affiliate product at the same time.

For example:

Here’s my thank you page a user lands on after signing up for one of my lead magnets:

In this example, I’m pitching ConvertKit, an email marketing service I’m an affiliate for.

A thank you page is prime real estate, so why not use this space to pitch an affiliate product?

When you make sales from this page, it’s essentially free money.

Because your referrals would have landed on that page anyway.

5: Offer Bonuses

Offering bonuses is a powerful way to increase your sales.

And it’s one that’s used by many of the top online marketers, and for good reason.

Because it works.

All you do is offer a special bonus to your audience if they sign up for a product/service through your affiliate link.

To make this truly powerful though, the bonus (or bonuses if you offer several) should have a high perceived value.

In fact:

Ideally, the bonus should be worth more than the price of the affiliate offer.

Here’s an example by legendary marketer, Jeff Walker:

increase affiliate sales by offering bonuses

In this example, you can see Jeff “stacks” multiple bonuses to create an insane (no brainer) offer for his audience.

Your bonuses can be anything.

So long as they’re valuable, it’ll work great.

6: Build Trust & Rapport

Building trust and rapport with your audience is a must.

In fact:

Entrepreneur believes trust is the new marketing currency:

We live in an age where most people are skeptical, so it’s crucial to build trust.

Essentially, all you have to do is put your best foot forward and actually help your audience.

If you put their wants and needs first, they’ll trust you and reward you with sales.

So no matter what type of content you create, make it awesome, reliable, actionable, and helpful.

7: Only Promote High Quality Products

You know what you should never (ever) do?

Promote crappy products, just to try and make money.

No matter what you’re selling, it needs to be a great product.

If you promote crap, your referrals will ask for refunds.

And when they ask for refunds, you don’t make money.

Not only this, but your audience will start to distrust you and the products you recommend.

So avoid this at all costs, and only ever sell great products.

Pro Tip: The products you promote you should be using yourself, or have used in the past. Personally, I only ever promote products that I use myself, or that I’ve used in the past, that I’d also happily recommend to my mother.

8: Produce Helpful Content

You know what people want when they view your content?

They want it to be helpful, and awesome.

If you slap content together just to try and make a quick buck, you’ll make nothing.

Because your audience won’t trust what you’re saying or promoting.

So it makes sense to provide helpful content from the get go.

Here’s a few different types of content you can create, that also work really well:

#1: How To Content

Where you teach your audience “how to do” or “achieve” something.

The key to making this work is, to ensure the product being promoted is relevant to the content.

#2: Product Reviews

This is a great way to provide quality content, that’s also easy to do.

Simply review one of your affiliate products, and list all the pro’s and con’s of the product.

To make this approach really pop, you need to be thorough (and honest) in your review.

Provide as much information about the product as possible.

#3: Product Demo’s

Can you do a demo of your affiliate product?

If you can, consider giving a demo to your audience.

Show them just how awesome it is.

Show them all the cool benefits and features of the product.

Sometimes, all it takes is demonstrating how a product works, and how it’ll benefit them.

Fun Fact: When I was 22, I was a salesman who sold vacuum cleaners. 3 months after I started, I became the number one salesman in my company, simply by giving product demo’s.

Ultimately, you just have to be honest and thoughtful.

You can’t not increase your sales if you’re providing content your audience loves.

9: Use FOMO Marketing

“FOMO” stands for fear of missing out.

It’s a psychological trigger that plays on our anxiety we feel when missing out on a limited time deal,  or a special event.

FOMO can be used to create a surge of sales by playing on people’s emotions, and getting them to take action now, rather than delaying and/or taking no action at all.

One of the best times to deploy FOMO is when a product/service you’re promoting has a “special deal” where users can save money.

Like BlueHost’s 60% off deal on Black Friday:

An example of offering discounts

When the companies you promote have sales or special events (deals etc) leverage this and promote it as FOMO to your audience.

The promotion will create a sense of urgency.

And that sense of urgency will create an influx of affiliate sales.
